The institution serves a demographic profile that typically has a low retention and graduate rates. The goal of the institution is to improve support for our students in accessing and completing higher education so they can, improve life for themselves, their families, and their community. QuickLaunch is looking forward to supporting their goal through its exclusive range of products offered to the institution.

The Major Challenges Faced by Calumet College

The students at CCSJ have to remember at least three sets of credentials to go about their daily CCSJ-related activities. Though the institution tried to simplify this process as much as they can without a SSO solution using same username across all accounts. However, students are often confused about which password to use for which account. This leads to frustration and an increasing number of calls/visits to help desk. A significant amount of time during orientation is used to acclimate students with their numerous accounts.

Not only this, multiple credentials resulted in multiple password reset requests going through IT help desk. This was a huge productivity drain for both users and IT help desk administrators. Moreover, it added to operational costs of the institution. Also, there was no way to secure remote logins. The institution was using custom scripts to provision users. A lot of time was wasted in the process.

Solutions

QuickLaunch Single Sign-On will help the users to login to multiple applications using a single set of credentials without switching the screens. The users will now have to remember just one password which reduce the number of password reset requests and boost productivity.

Password Manager with MFA will allow users to reset lost/forgotten passwords by themselves with raising the request to IT help desk. The users can use multiple factors such as challenges questions, SMS and email to reset their passwords. This will make help desk administrators available for other critical tasks and reduce operational costs by saving cost of every password reset going through help desk.

Adaptive Authentication with detect unusual user behavior and prompt MFA to anyone trying to login the account. Moreover, it will send email notification to the user and IT admin about the suspicious activity.

User Self-Registration will simply the process of user onboarding and will eliminate the practice of sending default password through email or letters. A user who has just joined the institution will receive a welcome note on email to create a password and update security profile.

Automated Provisioning will replace manual scripts and allow the institution to automated user provisioning and streamline user access management.

Mobile App will provide a web-like login experience to the users. The users will be able to reset their passwords from mobile using FaceID and Touch ID. Moreover, they will receive important notifications such as password expiry notifications, institutional news and more alerts.
